THE GREAT BRITISH INSULATION FUNDED MEASURES FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES!

Cavity Wall Insulation

Essentially, a cavity wall is a wall that has a space, a.k.a, a cavity, in between another wall. This spacing between the two walls can be filled with insulation to provide various benefits for the homeowner. Cavity walls are considered to be a more modern form of construction, with most properties built post-1940s having this cavity. Therefore, if your home has a cavity wall, you are presented with a great opportunity to receive funding.

Loft Insulation

Loft insulation keeps your home warm by preventing heat from escaping through the roof. Knauf Earth Wool, a popular choice, is a top-notch material made from natural and recycled ingredients like glass and sand. It’s efficient, eco-friendly, and resistant to mold and moisture, ensuring a snug and sustainable home.

External Wall insulation

External wall insulation is a method of adding insulation to the outside walls of buildings to improve energy efficiency. It involves attaching insulation panels and a protective layer to reduce heat loss, lower heating costs, and enhance the building’s appearance and lifespan.

What is the Great British Insulation Scheme?

The Government’s initiative known as the Great British Insulation Scheme focuses on enhancing the insulation of residential properties. It operates in conjunction with another governmental program dedicated to energy efficiency, namely ECO4.

Residences that are prone to drafts experience rapid heat loss, leading to higher expenses to maintain warmth. According to certain reports, housing in the UK ranks among the least energy-efficient in Europe. This fresh initiative, backed by a budget exceeding £1 billion, aims to provide support to approximately 300,000 households across the nation, assisting with the expenses associated with the installation of new home insulation.

If you qualify for insulation under this scheme, you may be eligible to receive it at no cost or at a reduced expense. The extent of this benefit will hinge on the specific insulation requirements of your dwelling and its structural characteristics.

FAQs

No, the scheme is open to all in the UK, regardless of whether they receive benefits.

The speed of the process largely depends on your promptness in taking action. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and installation times are contingent upon your availability. Initially, we’ll schedule a retrofit assessment, which typically lasts about an hour. Following that, you’ll be prepared for installation within 48 hours.

Along with your loft/roof and walls, heat is also lost from your home through your floors, as well as your windows and doors. As your energy-saving partner, Eco Systems can supply and fit this full range of services for your home to accompany your home insulation. Complete a full refurbishment of your home with solar panels, masonry coating and a brand-new heat pump to save on your energy bills each month.

The government introduced the ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) scheme which means that energy suppliers must promote the installation of energy-saving measures for your home. Under the ECO scheme, you could have the complete cost of home insulation covered by a grant – providing you meet the criteria for the ECO scheme by being on certain benefits and are recommended by your local authority. For more information on the ECO grant scheme, see our dedicated grant page.

Home insulation is beneficial for many different reasons and because of this, the government are continuously releasing initiatives and grants to help homeowners benefit. Some reasons are:

  • Save Money – Insulation helps reduce energy bills every month by up to 30%. Cavity wall and loft insulation are major contributors to these savings.
  • Eco-friendly – Insulation helps to reduce energy consumption which reduces the release of carbon emissions, which is one of the main atmospherical issues.
  • Prevents damp – Insulation protects against dampness and rot to your structure.
  • Health benefits – Insulation improves indoor air quality by blocking pollutants, dust and toxins from entering your home.
