Solar Battery Storage
Store the electricity your solar panels generate and use it when you need it most. We install home batteries with new solar systems, or add them to the panels you already have, across London, Essex, Kent, Surrey and Hertfordshire.
What Is a Solar Battery?
A solar battery stores the spare electricity your panels produce during the day. Without one, that electricity is exported to the grid, often for much less than you pay to buy it back. With a battery, you keep it and use it in the evening, when most homes use the most power.
Home batteries are compact units fitted indoors or out, typically in a garage, utility room or on an outside wall. Most homes suit a battery of around 5–10kWh, which we size from your actual electricity use.

Benefits of a Solar Battery
A battery helps you get far more value from your solar panels, and can save you money even in winter.
Use More of Your Own Solar Power
Without a battery, many homes use only part of the electricity their panels generate. A battery stores the rest for the evening, so you buy much less from the grid.
Charge Up on Cheap Overnight Rates
On a time-of-use tariff, your battery can charge overnight when electricity is cheapest, then power your home at peak times. This keeps saving you money in winter, when your panels generate less.
Add a Battery to Existing Panels
Already have solar? We can add a battery to most existing systems, including ones we didn’t install. We’ll check your inverter and recommend the right setup.
Backup Power Options
With the right backup equipment, a battery can keep essential circuits running during a power cut. Let us know at survey if backup matters to you.
0% VAT Until March 2027
Home batteries currently qualify for 0% VAT when supplied and installed, whether fitted with new panels or added later. The relief is due to end on 31 March 2027. Read our VAT guide

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a solar battery worth it?
For many households, yes. It depends on how much electricity you use in the evening, your tariff and your system. We’ll show you the numbers for your home with and without a battery.
Do I need a battery with solar panels?
No. Panels work without one, and on their own they usually pay back fastest. A battery lets you use more of your own electricity and is especially useful if you’re out during the day, have an electric car or are on a time-of-use tariff.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?
Yes. A battery can usually be added to an existing system, even one we didn’t install.
Will a battery keep my power on during a power cut?
Not automatically. Standard systems switch off in a power cut for safety. With battery backup equipment, essential circuits can keep running.
How long do solar batteries last?
Most home batteries carry warranties of around 10 years, and many are designed to last longer. Capacity reduces gradually over time.
Is there VAT on solar batteries?
Not at the moment. Home batteries supplied and installed in Great Britain are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027.
